about
This song was made in Northern California when the realities of quarantine were fully setting in. . Everything was in a real dip; LP tour was postponed, the world was on fire and hurting, I was away from friends and community, and felt like I lost the ability to create. It was a particularly windy day when there was a loud crash from upstairs . A plant fell from the window and smashed into many pieces. I swept it up. (That was actually the original title lol but obviously shortened it ) I also had a mirror outside my room where I would make music and there was this little bird that would come and visit me and this mirror. You can actually hear him in the song at certain points. (One of the high hats I recorded off my phone with a drum machine app with a microphone and caught the bird in the background) . For some weird reason these two events stuck with me and seemed tied together and , in turn, inspired the texture which launched the song. The song deals with a conversation with someone going through depression. . This ones very special to me
lyrics
Oh my little bird
Don’t fly high I know it hurts
Your eyes speak a thousand words
in gold light you’re immersed
cuz i'll never will forget you
i never will forget you
Juj very much inspired me to go dig into samples and find snippets of audio and use them and be creative. He inspired some of my tracks in this release. Nick Leng
This album, especially "About You" inspired some of my tracks like "Drift Away". The slow space out/chill out vibe has been a big influence on me as of late. Nick Leng
A soundtrack to a film that is both historical and autobiographical, Yang’s music here finds graceful beauty in slowly unfolding melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 4, 2023
