about

This song was made in Northern California when the realities of quarantine were fully setting in. . Everything was in a real dip; LP tour was postponed, the world was on fire and hurting, I was away from friends and community, and felt like I lost the ability to create. It was a particularly windy day when there was a loud crash from upstairs . A plant fell from the window and smashed into many pieces. I swept it up. (That was actually the original title lol but obviously shortened it ) I also had a mirror outside my room where I would make music and there was this little bird that would come and visit me and this mirror. You can actually hear him in the song at certain points. (One of the high hats I recorded off my phone with a drum machine app with a microphone and caught the bird in the background) . For some weird reason these two events stuck with me and seemed tied together and , in turn, inspired the texture which launched the song. The song deals with a conversation with someone going through depression. . This ones very special to me

lyrics

Oh my little bird
Don’t fly high I know it hurts
Your eyes speak a thousand words
in gold light you’re immersed

cuz i'll never will forget you
i never will forget you

Ooh oohhh ooh ooh ooo hhh oohohohohohh. Ooooooooooooooo

so Why are you upset
What’s running through your head
what’s keeping your mind at bay

tied a Ribbon in your hair
But a ghost is in the chair
as your silence starts to fray

So take a longer breath,
the Pain is just a guest
Asking you to hold the truth.

the devil took your hand
and told you how to dance
As you cut the peach in two

Ooh oohhh ooh ooh ooo hhh oohohohohohh. Ooooooooooooooo

Swept under the rug
you Sat and had a shrug
Took the toffees from the shelf

Tried to a catch a knife
I’ll fix you to be nice
Then I really have to go

So take a longer breath,
the Pain is just a guest
asking you to hold the truth.

the Voices getting loud
The ghost begins to shout
At the shadows in the room.

Oh my little bird
dont fly high
i know it hurts
your eyes speak a thousand words
in gold light you're emmersed.
